On behalf of the Uganda Episcopal Conference and the Staff of Uganda Catholic Secretariat, and the entire Catholic Community in Uganda, I present our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to your Excellencies and all the American People, upon the terribly shocking and horrendous terrorist air bombings in New York and Washington.

The Bishops and the entire Catholic Community in Uganda were horribly shocked and saddened by the ungodly and abominable terrorist attacks, which caused the loss of such an immensity of human life and property at New York's World Trade Center and at the Pentagon in Washington. It is our prayer that justice will take its course to bring the brutal perpetrators to book. We also pray that God's mighty hand will guide the consequences of these monstrous atrocities in favour of human life and peace.

The Catholic Church in Uganda stands by the American People in prayer and solidarity to console and comfort the affected and bereaved families, the surviving victims and all the American people.

On their own, the Bishops of Uganda have offered prayers for America and have encouraged all the Catholic Communities at all levels to pray for peace in the United States and the whole World.

In solidarity with the Church in the United States we condemn with firmness these ungodly and barbaric terrorist attacks which are against the dignity and sanctity of human life and religious values.

May the souls of the deceased victims meet God's mercy and rest in eternal peace, and may the Lord continue to bless, the give comfort, courage and peace to the affected and bereaved families, the government and all the people of the United States.
