Episcopal Conference of Sudan
Riyadh, Khartoum, Sudan
September 11, 2001
We, the Bishops of the Sudan, gathered for a meeting in Mombasa, Kenya, received with deep grief the information of the very serious aggression suffered by the people of the United Sates of America with the loss of many lives in connection with the aerial attack that destroyed the twin towers in New York and partially the Pentagon building in Washington, D.C.
In profound solidarity with you, the Bishops' Conference of the United States, and all the American people, your church and your nation, we, the Bishops of Sudan, have prayed and will continue to offer supplications to God for the strength and love of solidarity and forgiveness to rebuild the great American spirit of your people and to achieve peace. The solidarity of all of us Sudanese bishops is prompted by the love your Conference has displayed upon us and the Sudanese people through your visits at the end of March and end of August, 2001 that obtained progress towards peace in Sudan.
Be assured that we shall ask all the Christians in our dioceses of Sudan to pray for peace and security in your nation.
May the God of peace through the intercession of Mary Bless your nation.
In total solidarity and united in Christ, I greet you in the name of all Catholic Bishops of the Sudan.
Archbishop Paulino Lukudu Loro
Archbishop of Juba - Sudan
